This page is WIP!
From beta 2026.1 domoticz has a Matter integration based on matter.js server (https://github.com/matter-js/matterjs-server)
Note: Thread and Matter rely heavily on IPv6, so make sure your network and Domoticz device can communicate on IPv6
Matter.js server
For the matter integration to work you need a running matter-js-server (setup with docker: https://github.com/matter-js/matterjs-server/blob/main/docs/docker.md)
docker-compose.yml example
services:
matterjs-server:
container_name: matterjs-server
image: ghcr.io/matter-js/matterjs-server:latest
read_only: true
network_mode: host
restart: unless-stopped
volumes:
- ./data:/data
Navigate to the docker compose directory (as example) where the matter.js docker-compose.yml file is created.
cd docker/matterjs-server
Start the server
docker compose up -d
View logs
docker compose logs -f
Stop the server
docker compose down
When running with default options the UI should be available on port 5580 of the server eg http://192.168.1.123:5580
Thread Border router
If you want to use the wireless standard thread, that is needed for e.g. the new Ikea devices, you need a Thread-border-router.
There are many thread border routers available.
The commercial ones:
- Apple TV
- Apple Homepod
- Google Nest Hub
- Amazon Echo dot
- Ikea dirigera (newest version)
- etc
Then there the open source ones:
- Openthread border router (ESP) https://openthread.io/guides/border-router/espressif-esp32
- Home Assistant ZBT-2
Domoticz hardware gateway install
When matter.js is running you can add in Domoticz the Matter Hardware gateway and fill in the IP and port of your matter.js server eg 192.168.1.123:5580
Using Matter with Domoticz
Devices paired to the matter server are also being added to Domoticz and can be controlled from Domoticz User interface.
There is a setup button next to the Matter hardware in Domoticz that you can use, and you can also use the native web interface of the matterjs-server docker container (eg http://192.168.1.123:5580)
