=Zigbee for Domoticz Plugin=

Zigbee for Domoticz Plugin has manufacturer/hardware-independent support and today includes compatibility with inexpensive Zigbee Coordinator adapters from ZiGate as well those based on Texas Instruments CC2652/CC1352 chips, Silicon Labs ERF32MG13/EFRMG21/EFRMG24 chips, and Dresden Elektronik ConBee/RaspBee (deCONZ/Phoscon) adapters with compatible Zigbee Coordinator firmware.

The plugin is open source and coded in Python coded, using a framework that enable the possibility to add support for even more different Zigbee Coordinator chips from other manufacturers in the future.

The direct-attached Zigbee Coordinator adapter allow you to nativly connect to and control most Zigbee devices from manufacturers/brands like example; Philips Hue, IKEA Trådfri, Aqara/Xiaomi, Schneider Wiser, Legrand Netatmo, and many of other native Zigbee devices under the Domoticz umbrella application without having to go through any external broker service software or proxy/gateway/bridge appliance (which would convert to other protocols than Zigbee in order to communitcate with Domoticz).

Zigbee for Domoticz a plugin for Domoticz home automation software to connect Zigbee devices through a Zigbee Coordinator (a.k.a. Zigbee controller/bridge/gateway adapter in the form of Zigbee USB adapter/dongle/stick/key or GPIO Shield/HAT), like those from [https://zigate.fr ZiGate], as well as Texas Instruments CC13x2/CC26x2 like [https://electrolama.com/projects/zig-a-zig-ah/ Electrorama zzh], and Silicon Labs ERF32MGxx chips like [https://elelabs.com/ Elelabs] , (older TI CC253x adapters works too but are obsolete so not recommended if want to achieve a stable Zigbee network). IKEA Tradfri Gateway (Trådfri which translates to 'Wireless' from Swedish) is a new afforable home automation bridge/gateway/hub/controller that has support for a variety of smart wireless light switches/remotes, sensors, as well as a relatively large collection of lightbulbs and lightpanels from IKEA.

Protocols uses by devices in the IKEA Tradådfri series announced so far is all uses different variants of [[Zigbee|Zigbee protocol standards (including Zigbee Home Automation, Zigbee Light Link, and Zigbee 3.0)]].

IKEA Trådfri Gateway comes with support for its own official [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ikea.tradfri.lighting Android] and [https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ikea-tr%C3%A5dfri/id1195836071 iOS] apps from IKEA, however IKEA have also said that they are working on an open API for the IKEA Trådfri Gateway.

The IKEA Trådfri Gateway needs to be connected via wired Ethernet with Internet connection to setup and add devices, however once devices have been added it is possble to control the devices locally over LAN/WiFi using the app or its open API.

It is not yet known if multiple gateways will be supported on the same local network or not, however the remotes and lightbulbs/lightpanels makes its own ZigBee mesh-network with each device acting as a wireless repeater so just joining more devices will automatically extend the range of the ZigBee mesh-network.

IKEA Tradfri Gateway and other devices in "IKEA Trådfri" series can be purchased from the 31:st of March 2017 at IKEA stores in various countries at very competitive prices for being sold in western markets. IKEA Trådfri series today include smart lights/lighbulbs/lightpanels, smart sockets/plug, motion sensors, remotes, roller-blinds (roller-covers). All based on the [[Zigbee]] protocol.

Someone have already 'hacked' the newly release Ikea Trådfri Gateway - Turns out it communicates using standard CoAP encrypted with DTLS. See these two links:

These guy above have figured out how to talk to Ikea Trådfri Gateway using standard CoAP to send and recieve commands to its end devices (encrypted with DTLS v1.2 - Datagram Transport Layer Security).

Ikea Trådfri Android application appears to be using multicast (224.0.0.1) to find the Ikea Trådfri Gateway, and then communicates using encrypted CoAP (coaps). Also, it does not look like the Trådfri Gateway attempts to talk to the Internet (as the device looks to have has no outgoing connections). The default Ikea Trådfri Android app is fairly basic, where it currently only let you create schedules for turning on and off, and you can control lights and create zones, and control zones.

Looks like Ikea might have conformed with OMA LightweightM2M (LwM2M) Object IDs and Resource Registry ID as unique identifiers

So far they had determined that application looks to communicate over UDP with Ikea Trådfri Gateway encrypted using DTLS v1.2 (Datagram Transport Layer Security).
